A mermaid's accessory of choice!
Have you ever had a dream about shoes? Because I have. Really! The other night, I awoke from my slumber with the most pleasant fantasy in my mind, where I wandered around sunny Los Angeles in a fresh pair of Gucci pearl-inlaid loafers. What a marvelous dream!
Of course, I don't really have a pair of Gucci loafers (yet) but the dream got me thinking about one of the biggest trends in footwear currently: pearls! From the Gucci loafers to another current obsession of mine, the Miu Miu fur slides, pearls are the accent du jour amongst shoe designers.
I think pearls are a gorgeous accent that keeps from being flashy or over-the-top like other jewel decorations may appear. There's a minimalist quality to pearls which I love, and think they make a pair of shoes—even sneakers—look stunning and elegant.
