What’s On My Wish List
At the start of every new year, I find myself inspired by the possibilities that lie ahead. Who will I be this year? Who will I become? What experiences and adventures will shape me?
And of course, what will I be wearing through it all?
Now that school is in the past, January has become the time when I get that “back to school” feeling of reinvention, especially when it comes to my wardrobe. Stocked with a few fresh new clothing pieces courtesy of sweet family members and their gifts, I always feel inspired to reinvent myself and refresh my wardrobe. It doesn’t hurt that spring, the season I think fits so well with my personal style and tastes, is on the horizon. Pastels, florals, and sunny days are just up ahead, and it makes me feel alive just to think of gorgeous spring days in the near future.
So what am I feeling inspired by right now, in January 2026? For one, I’ve been really drawn to stripes, but not the typical nautical hues that I’ve worn in the past. These are more funky, inspired by ice cream colors or moody clashes of colors than sailor uniforms.
I’m also thinking about how to wear sparkles, sequins, and other embellishments in a casual way. I don’t know about you, but I’m so sick of athleisure all the time (even if it is incredibly comfy). I don’t want to have to have some special occasion to wear a fun outfit or bust out my new Staud Tommy Bag—I want to wear the fun stuff now while I can!
60s and 70s-inspired pieces are calling to me, as are cardigans of all shapes and colors. I’m also wondering if this is the year I’ll finally get into jewelry. I just got a chic and versatile gold bangle from Baublebar, and it’s inspiring me to be more proactive in styling jewelry and accessories in general before I leave the house.
Below are some pieces I’ve recently bookmarked. Will they find a way into my wardrobe? One can only hope! But the 2026 vision is slowly coming together.
