Film-Inspired Halloween Costume Ideas For 2026
Happy October! With us firmly in spooky season, I’m sharing some fun Halloween costume ideas inspired by the biggest pop culture moments of the past year.
First off, some costume ideas inspired by the most popular films of 2026 (and the very end of 2025):
Film-Inspired Halloween Costume Ideas
Agamemnon from The Odyssey
The Odyssey is one of the biggest movies of the year, so it stands to reason that costumes from the film will be popular as well. Greek costumes are a classic (haha, get it), but the standout costume moment from Nolan’s epic was the imposing black garb of Agamemnon. The Schiaparelli-esque vertebrae helmet is the centerpiece of this ensemble. Bonus points if you wear this to a Halloween party and just stand imposingly amidst the revelers, saying nothing. True aura.
Nikki from Obsession
This year’s horror icon is no doubt Inde Navarrette, the breakout star of Obsession, and her costume is pretty simple to recreate. Her most iconic look is a Princess Polly top, after all. Throw that on, splatter some fake blood on your face, and you’ve got an iconic look. Just please, for the love of all that is holy, no couple costumes with Bear.
Grace and Rocky from Project Hail Mary
Who knew a space survival movie would have so many great fashion moments? Ryan Gosling’s Ryland Grace was positively dripping in incredible style moments, giving you a few options for your costume. From the array of graphic tees to his beautiful fox knit jacket, pick your favorite Grace fashion moment, add a pair of slutty little glasses, and you’ll look absolutely out of this world.
I’d also love to see some Rocky costumes, though that’s a little less fashion-forward. If you figure out a Rocky outfit, please send a picture of it my way. I’d love to see!
The Velvet Gang from I Love Boosters
Whether you loved or hated I Love Boosters (I loved it, for the record, but I recognize Boots Riley is not for everyone), you cannot deny that the costumes are incredible and would make for a super fun group look. The extremely over-the-top Harajuku-inspired looks are my favorite from the film, but the monochrome yellow or green outfits that they wear while working at Metro Designers are super easy to recreate.
The Bride from The Bride!
The Bride may have bombed, but the Bride of Frankenstein is a classic Halloween costume, so why not give her a 2026 update with a look inspired by the new film? Besides, the 1930s style was a really fun take. Fair warning, though: you may or may not be confused for Lady Gaga.
Mother Mary from Mother Mary
A film in part about costume design naturally had fantastic costumes, with the titular Mother Mary wearing some truly fabulous on-stage garb. Fair warning, though: you may or may not be confused for Lady Gaga or Joan of Arc. But also, isn’t that kind of the point?
Joe and Angela from The Invite
For the minimalist hipster couple’s costume, Joe and Angela are a great, if majorly dysfunctional, option. Will people think you’re just wearing everyday blue outfits? Probably. But as Angela, you can rock a milkmaid braid and carry around jamón to the party, and together you can make everyone mildly uncomfortable with your general bad vibes. Fun!
Emma and Charlie from The Drama
In other dysfunctional couple’s costume ideas, Emma and Charlie from The Drama at least have some pretty recognizable outfits from the film to adopt for Halloween. I recommend going for their climactic post-wedding looks, with Emma wearing an orange puffer jacket over a wedding dress and Charlie in a blue puffer and sporting a bloodied face and shirt with his tux.
Marty from Marty Supreme
Everyone’s favorite way-too-intense ping pong player is a pretty easy look to recreate for Halloween. Pop on a 1950s-style polo, nerdy glasses, give yourself a shitty little mustache, carry around a ping pong paddle, and exist with precisely 0 chill. If you want to make it a group costume and you and your friends managed to snag those Marty Supreme windbreakers, you can be Marty and his entourage.
Grace and Faith from Ready Or Not 2
Horror movies always make for perfect Halloween costumes, and the Ready or Not wedding dress got an even bloodier makeover for the sequel. Plus, you can now do this costume as a duo, with someone as Grace and someone as her sister Faith!
Nathan Fielder and Elizabeth Holmes from You Can See Everything
This one is for the true freaks. In anticipation of the upcoming documentary You Can See Everything, where my favorite Canadian business school graduate and pilot Nathan Fielder will delve deep into the world of Theranos girl boss and fraudster Elizabeth Holmes, a Fielder and Holmes duo costume will get the people talking.
I recommend going for their most iconic getups: for Fielder, a simple sweater and pants paired with his laptop harness, and for Holmes, the Steve Jobs wannabe black turtleneck paired with a messy blonde updo and smudged red lipstick.
The Wicker Man from Wicker
Wait, sorry, maybe this is for the true freaks. Wicker is one of the most highly anticipated films of the fall, at least for all the horny women out there, so men, if you want to impress the ladies, brush up on your makeup skills and make like the man from Wicker. Bonus points if you get a friend to dress up as last year’s sexiest straw man: Fiyero from Wicked For Good.
The Fruits in Forbidden Fruits
I have yet to see Forbidden Fruits, but I do know that the girl group from this movie is rocking some fabulous fashion with great mall-girl-meets-coven energy. Gather your favorite gals and go for this group costume.
The Sheep from The Sheep Detectives
A super easy group costume: don standard sheep costumes and then brandish magnifying glasses and monocles to portray that you’re not just regular sheep; you’re sheep detectives.
Cathy from Wuthering Heights
I did a whole blog post about how much I adored the bold costumes from Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights adaptation, so naturally they must be included in this list of film-inspired Halloween costume ideas! I definitely want to see people take on the corseted braid hairstyle. Maybe I can figure out a way to do this myself? We shall see.
The Backrooms from Backrooms
This was in my running list of ideas, and no, I do not mean dressing up as the characters from Backrooms, though you are more than welcome to do so. I want to see someone figure out a creative way to dress up as the physical embodiment of the Backrooms themselves. No, I haven’t seen this movie.
